Comments on the mix: The inspiration for this mix is the children's book "Miss Nelson is Missing!" It's a school story about an angelic teacher (Miss Nelson) and her monstrous substitute (Viola Swamp). Years ago, my friend A. (a teacher) and I were talking about this book and how she had to play both roles in the classroom. It seemed a good idea for a mix tape and so I made her one. Flash forward to 2005, where my Mix Club research revealed that nudgewinkgirl was a teacher. I decided to revive the idea (with completely different songs). Instead of two sides (which admittedly works better), there are two disks. Miss Nelson is sweet. Viola Swamp is cunning and brutal. Of course, somewhere in the mix-making process, I realized that "Miss Nelson is Missing!" might not be nearly as well known in the UK as it is in the US. And that ... turned out to be the case. Ah well. It's still a good idea.
